Do you ever pause?

Do you ever pause to wonder how ephemeral and surreal some moments are in life? How your mind wanders to places far away? or how you meet strangers for a brief fleeting moment and never set eyes on them again. How slight decisions may alter or set in motion the course of your day? How you woke up by 5:47 a.m, 17 mins later than your preset alarm time, took a couple more seconds to groan and convince yourself to get off your bed, brush your teeth and have your bath. It’s 7:30 a.m and you are waiting at the bus stop for the 45 mins long sojourn to your usual 9-to-5. You sit beside a young middle-aged woman whom seems to be lost in thought; possibly thinking if she had turned off the oven or if she wouldn’t regret not taking her morning coffee? Or the young schoolboy that smiled at you as you got into the bus because he fancies your funny little rainbow colored muffler you got around your neck. Almost certain you’d never see the boy again. But left to wonder, would you have shared the same seat with the middle aged lady had you woken up by 5:30 as planned or seen the smiling boy who thought your rainbow colored muffler was funny? Or if the boy might have missed his bus ’cause he had to wait for his mum who took longer to prepare his morning sandwich? or the brief conversation you had with that young man whom just travelled more than 150km to your city and the asked you for directions to a place he has never been. A young man you might never see again. Or the sudden splash of poop on your head which makes you look up in amazement at the white dove flying overhead; the culprit? Leaving you to wonder how the timing for such an uneventful event could occur to that singular time.

All these experiences buggle my mind sometimes as I wonder about how all the forces in the universe, were rolled into place for that one single encounter to pass by.

And lastly I wonder how time and circumstances moved its way for you, the reader, to read this ramble to the very end and how I might never even meet you in person but here you are leaving with a piece of me in your head.
